Reflection #1
One of the ha ha moments were that when we were reading the story told us that it was illegal to hang your clothes outside in England, because you may get your underwear stolen. I believe the only main disappointment is that my first two kids, Denny and Emily, are really shy and quiet. It would be lovely if the kids were not afraid to be able to talk to me so we could talk about more things other than the story I am reading them. What I would like to do during each period with my student is read them a story, talk about their vocab words, and talk to them about the story that I read them about what the story represents. My expectations for the students have met, because they do seem like the type of students to do their work and are great listeners. The reading skill I taught this week was reading and then going back to discuss some major details in the story. Some vocabulary words I gave my students were monarch, misdemeanor, parliament, levied, and legislation. The title is called Do Not Open written by John Farndon. One of the story, Law Tour, is about different laws around the world and how unusual the law was. The other story, Great Escapes, talked about how people escaped the most dangerous prisons. The story was very effective, because it talked about the History they will learn when they get little older.
